Each student will make a found sound instrument that they
will bring in to show to the class. They will use these found sounds to compose
rhythms to play in groups and as a class. Students will use the 3 S’s to guide
their project:
Size- the
instrument must be easily transportable to school and should not be much bigger
than a shoebox size.
Safety- the
instrument should not use glass or sharp points that could cause an injury.
Sound- the
instrument should have a good sound when it is played.
Students will have several weeks to think about and explore
possibilities for their found sound. The instruments should be brought to
school the week of November 30 (the week after Thanksgiving break.)
